ABOUT THE EVENT

WAIE+ hosted its first gathering of women working in the critical space of AI Ethics in Nairobi on May 25, 2026 where we discussed practical and contextual issues relating to women broadly and more specifically African women and women of color. ​

We met at the Kwetu Nairobi, Curio Collection By Hilton resort near the beautiful Karura Forest in Kenya.

We had over 50 women registered, representing civil society, government, and industry. We used the WAIE+ AI Safety, Security, Ethics, and Society framework to self-organize into smaller groups and discuss ways to collaborate on issues that matter in AI.
